Florida Conference Innovation Initiative
Cultivating Innovators
In the fall of 2017, the Florida Conference Office of Education embarked upon an exciting journey, Florida Conference Innovation Initiative, to reimagine education through Innovation. The current model of education that is widely used today was designed to support the Second Industrial Revolution. According to the World Economic Forum, we have embarked upon the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This era will require a work force that is equipped with 21st competencies. The vision of the initiative is to enable each student to realize the calling and the destiny that has for them. The mission of the initiative is to transform each of the 29 schools operated by the Florida Conference into hubs of innovation that impact the local community and cultivate within each student the social empathy required to change the world through STEM research, social innovation and entrepreneurship. This multilayered strategy is attacking the problem from all sides of education—technology, teacher education, pedagogy, STEM Education and student engagement.

The Florida Conference Innovation Lab at Forest Lake Academy is a Demonstration Micro School, located on the campus of Forest Lake Academy, that utilizes the latest in science learning research, pedagogy and assessment to prototype authentic learning environments that will be deployed to schools throughout the Florida Conference.
InnovationX
More than a typical science fair, InnovationX is an academic competition operated by the Florida Conference Office of Education that is designed to inspire the next generation of innovators.
The Florida Conference Innovation Lab Network
The Florida Conference Innovation Lab Network is a school network that is designed to provide its member schools with access to resources that help to transform their schools into hubs of innovation.
